What others are saying about Walks With Whitney….

“Walks with Whitney helped me so much. It wasn’t just reading a book or talking about my feelings with someone who studied how to help people. I like how Miss Whitney personalized it with her own experiences. It was helpful for me to know how she dealt with her feelings and how she overcame them. It comforted me to know that I could get through what I was going through because she did. I like that the walks connected me to nature. It reminded me that the earth is beautiful and there is always beauty in the world no matter what I’m going through. I liked that it helped me get exercise too. Overall, Walks with Whitney helped me overcome what I was going through.”

“The moment I decide to go to therapy was a big step in my life. I had been dealing with anxiety since I was young and it felt like it was part of everyday life, but it got to the point where I just couldn’t handle it alone anymore. Learning about how our mind works, and how thoughts can be intrusive was eye-opening. It helped me realize that I can push that anxiety to the side and focus on living my life. Even though I still struggle with anxiety every now and then, I feel that I’m more prepared on how to handle it, how to cope, and how to move on. Whitney helped me in many ways, and I would recommend her to others because of how caring and compassionate she is. She will try everything she can to help you cope. If you are debating about going to therapy or not, I would definitely say now is the time to do it.”

“My daughter was referred by a family friend to Soul Sisters. I wanted my daughter to learn how to manage herself in a positive way and how to handle situations.
Soul Sisters has benefitted my daughter by giving her an opportunity to be in a safe space and share with other girls experiencing similar things.  By being a part of the group she learned self-worth and confidence in how to manage challenging situations. I would highly recommend Soul Sisters to young girls that are navigating becoming young women.  My daughter absolutely loves Whitney and the girls in her group!  Whitney creates a warm, compassionate safe space for the girls and she is an absolute professional.

“I lost my husband suddenly in 2019, two months after we moved to AZ to retire. I am so grateful to have found Whitney to help me on my grief journey as she is very knowledgeable about the grief process.

I loved the combination of talking over my issues while walking. I’ve worked with other therapists who used the traditional method of sitting and talking. Whitney’s method helped me see through my issues quicker, clearer, and with less stress.

At Whitney’s suggestion, I joined a grief group. Meeting with others dealing with the loss of a loved one also helped me to deal with my loss.
Working with Whitney helped me move on with my life despite the loss of my husband. She helped me to see once more that life is good even when it does not turn out the way we thought it would.

I would recommend Whitney to anyone dealing with any kind of emotional and mental upheaval.”

“My daughter struggles with anxiety and social skills. She has really blossomed in this group. The way Whitney creates a safe warm space for girls to voice their thoughts and feelings has really built confidence in my tween. She also realizes that other kids have the same worries as she does. Which has helped her feel less alone. She has really expanded her empathy for others and is open to different perspectives. She is learning how to express herself with healthy words. I feel like she’s more empowered to speak up and more aware to choose words and tone carefully. I am very happy with her experience in Soul Sister and would and do recommend it to friends and family.”

“We moved to Arizona from the UK when my daughter was entering 5th grade. Signing up my daughter for Soul Sisters was one of the best decisions I made. She met her best friends through this group and has learned valuable lessons about friendships, self-care, and self-confidence. Whitney cares deeply for each of these girls and provides them with tools and community as they become amazing young adults.”

“We are so grateful to have found Whitney for my daughter and me as well. She is back to being her happy self. When my daughter first started she was suffering from depression, anxiety, and a lot more issues. Whitney has given her that confidence and happiness she once had again. This past year has been so hard especially with the pandemic that we all had to endure. It affected her and the whole family so much. Whitney has helped her come out of that darkness she once was in. Her walks definitely helped her so much. Also, the EMDR therapy and the teen’s group therapy Soul Sisters have definitely made a positive impact on my daughter. I will forever be grateful to Whitney for giving my daughter that happiness and confidence she once had again. Also for being so supportive and there for her and myself. I definitely recommend Walks with Whitney.”

“Local friends … I highly recommend this program to any young ladies that are in this age range! It is truly incredible! Emma has been through 2 sessions and she absolutely loves it! She has built great relationships and LOVES Miss Whitney!! I promise you will not regret getting your daughter signed up!!”

“Hey, friends!!!! My friend Whitney Kinlaw Shevlin, has built this amazing, safe environment for girls to share, support, and learn. My Kacey will be joining for her 5th session and we are so very grateful for the bonds she has made especially with the beginning of middle school and all the challenges that may bring.”

“I can’t say it enough…best thing Kacey has ever been a part of! AZ friends…this is a must for your 4-8th grade girls! Let me know if you any questions! Spread the word!”

“If your daughter is of age, I cannot rave enough about what Whitney has to offer. She has created a safe environment for the girls and while I can only speak for our daughter and family, Soul Sisters has made an incredible impact.”

“I just wanted to comment and HIGHLY RECOMMEND Soul Sisters! This was the first thing we enrolled my daughter in when we moved to Verrado, and she has been consistently attending for 2 years now. This is a valuable resource that we have here in Verrado and I cannot say enough good things about the benefits of this program.”

“We met Whitney two years ago when she was recommended by a trusted friend whose daughter was also was having anxiety. Her experience and approach are phenomenal. My daughter felt comfortable and I could almost immediately see her learned thought process when she would have thoughts of anxiety. The tools Whitney gives these girls to handle whatever comes their way is invaluable and I haven’t been able to find anyone else that offers what she does. Her Soul Sisters and virtual group have also made such a huge difference as well and the friendships she’s made is a huge bonus. We are just so grateful to know Whitney, participate in her programs and to have her be a trusted “safe” person in our daughters life!”

“Finding Whitney to work with our oldest daughter felt like fate and a true blessing! We had tried three other counselors and our daughter (who has a general anxiety disorder) never clicked with any of them. She didn’t want to try any more professional help, but as her parents, we were at our wit’s end. To start off, Whitney was willing to just sit with my husband and me to talk about what our concerns were and what we wanted our daughter to get out of her experience- no one else took the time to do that with us! With the other counselors, our daughter felt like she was being lectured at or talked down to, but in Whitney, she has found a good listener and confidant. We love the option of her being able to walk and talk, as she was not comfortable sitting face to face in an office setting and having all the attention focused directly on her. Something about the endorphins while walking and literally moving forward through her issues has been transformational. Whitney has completely honored our daughter’s privacy while still allowing us to check in to make sure things are going ok and worked with us when we felt we needed to add in anxiety medication under our primary care doctor’s guidance. We have seen our daughter become happier, more social, and better able to adjust to the responsibilities of “growing up” through her sessions with Whitney.

When our other daughter began displaying some similar symptoms of anxiety as her older sister, we took what we learned from working with Whitney and were much better prepared to get her the help she needed. Daughter #2 also recently began “Walking with Whitney” and has become calmer and enjoys having the outlet of an unbiased adult as she navigates the teen years. We highly recommend Whitney Shevlin!

Finding Whitney was like finding a good babysitter- you want to shout it from the rooftops but then you still want to be able to book her, so you selfishly want to keep her to yourself! We’re so thankful for her.”

“Before I began my journey with Whitney I was in a very hard place in my life. I had endured some very traumatic experiences. Experiences that I believed were going to haunt me for the rest of my life. I had tried seeking help elsewhere only to feel as if I was not being listened to, only heard. Being told what I was feeling when it was further from the truth. Feeling as if my voice was being lost in translation. Then with the help of my employer, I found Whitney. And I was skeptical at first because it was a path being generated through my employer. I thought here we go again, someone who is going to deny my experiences and play me off as if it never happened. That could be further from the truth.
From the very first session, I felt like I mattered. My voice meant something. Finally, someone was able to hear me with compassion, empathy, and give me sound advice to help me find myself. After each session, I felt like myself again. There were times that things seemed hard and unattainable. But Whitney helped me to see that as long as I kept trying that I was on the right path. And I feel like I owe her so much. Because she has helped me to conquer many of the pains and heartache I was dealing with. It’s not easy and is a daily challenge to not fall back into my old self. But Whitney has given me direction to stay on the right path. To not give up on me. To always keep trying no matter how hard things get. The things I have learned from her and applied in my life have helped me not only with my traumatic experiences but also with everyday challenges. Like dealing with the stress from work to finding time for myself.

I truly thank her from the bottom of my heart because she is absolutely amazing. If you feel that you are lost, in a dark place, and that no one is listening. Then I strongly suggest you give Whitney a chance. Because I can say with all honesty that without her and my faith I would more than likely not be here. I thank my Creator every day for putting someone like her on this earth to be able to help those of us who are in need. Those of us who need help in finding who we are. Those of us who need someone who will just listen and give our voice a chance to be heard.

I am no longer searching for someone who cares because I already found her. Thank you Whitney for everything you do and that you have done. I truly look forward to the future and know that if others are seeking help as I did, then giving you a chance will be the greatest gift they can do for themselves.”
